Module Coordinator
The module entitled "Social Rights as Instruments of Europeanization from below - Crossed Perspectives on Europe and Turkey" (abbreviated to SOCRETUR) was designed and is currently coordinated by Cem Özatalay from the Department of Sociology at the University of Galatasaray.
This module, which deals with recent developments in the field of social policies and social rights in the European Union, is designed to include an undergraduate course with a particular focus on Europe's social dimension. The course aims to examine the development of social rights in Europe and Turkey in a comparative and multidisciplinary way, taking into account their economic and social consequences. In this context, the course content has been designed in line with one of the European Commission's priorities, "An economy that works for people", with a particular focus on the European Pillar of Social Rights and its 20 principles. Annual conferences and a closing workshop with the participation of civil society actors and experts in the field are among the activities included in the module as well as the course.
